An Experienced Optometrist
A family-owned and operated business, Clear Optometry was established in 2010 as the first optometry practice in Bargara. From our beautiful beachside location, we service the entire Bundaberg and Coral Coast regions, with patients from Childers all the way up to Agnes Water.

Expertise in Optometry
Optometrist Geoff Blackwell originally hails from the country town of Goondiwindi and has been practising in the Bundaberg region since 1999. He graduated in 1993 from the QUT School of Optometry in Brisbane and has worked as a full-time practitioner ever since, garnering a wealth of clinical experience in various practices and locations across the country.

As well as general optometry he is experienced in fields such as contact lenses, children’s vision, low vision, and laser vision assessment, and is qualified to prescribe ophthalmic medicines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my eye examination be bulk-billed?
The majority of examinations at Clear Optometry are bulk-billed (for holders of valid Medicare cards). The procedure known as OCT (ocular coherence tomography) scanning does attract a fee, however while highly recommended for those over the age of 40, this test is entirely optional.

Do I need a referral from my doctor to have my eyes tested?
No referral is required. To make an appointment for an eye examination, simply contact our practice.

How often should I have an eye examination?
This will depend on factors such as your age and overall health, however we recommend a comprehensive eye examination at least every two years. Remember, some eye conditions (such as glaucoma) may have no symptoms until they are well developed and much harder to treat, so a regular check-up is the best way to catch these problems early.
